The magnifying power of many telescope models makes them ideal land viewing scopes. While refractors work for land viewing without the need for additional eyepieces, they tend to be more expensive. Refractors with the same imaging power are generally cheaper, and with the addition of an erecting eyepiece, become quite effective terrestrial scopes.
